Description:

16th Century Reformation - Music Continuation

Dr. Martin Luther's publication of the 95 theses eventually resulted in a split between the Catholic and the Protestant church.

Regarding church music, did the Reformers start from scratch... or not? Luther grew up with Gregorian chant, and the church people were familiar with these tunes.

This evening we plan to explore the music before and after the Reformation. An experienced schola and a double quartet sing tunes from their own tradition. The audience will join in some of the singing.

Come and hear Latin and English psalm tones, Genevan psalms and Renaissance arrangements (Goudimel), Palestrina's famous Sicut Cervus and more!

With Frank Ezinga and Alex McCune. Refreshments served after. Freewill offering to cover expenses.
